Sketching Stage

I endeavored to convey a story in three panels, one I desperately wanted to tell: A cat who dreamed of becoming an astronaut in 1969. In order to place my work in the proper time period I researched 1960s furniture and styling, taking cues from the more pastel muted tones and heavy emphasis on wood and pattern. Additionally I looked into popular cat toys, trying to find different ways I could construct an imaginary spaceship from these different shapes. Once material was gathered and the idea was concrete, I moved on to sketching. Along the way I tested if my story was easily understood through testing of my peers.
